Super Simple Naan Bread (without yeast)
Super plain Naan (makes 4)
Ingredients
250g Plain flour
50ml Milk
50ml Yoghurt
1 Egg
1tbs Vegetable oil
2tbs Sugar
1tsp Baking powder.
1tsp Nigella seeds
Pinch Salt
Equipment
Scales, Two bowls, fork, whisk, Tawa or similar pan (for use on a gas hob for best results) cling film.
Method
In a bowl, add the milk and sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Add in the yoghurt, egg and vegetable oil, whisk until combined.
Add 250g of flour into another bowl and add the baking powder, salt and nigella seeds. Mix until combined. You can use self-raising flour with this recipe in which case leave out the baking powder.
Add the wet ingredients to the flour mixture and bring together with a fork. Combine into a dough and knead for a few minutes.
Rub the dough with a little veg oil and place into a bowl. Cover with clingfilm and leave for a couple of hours. – Your dough will now be ready to use.
Garlic Naan
25g salted butter
2 Crushed cloves of garlic
In a pan, melt the butter and add the crushed garlic allow to infuse on a low heat for about a minute and then turn the heat off. Brush the garlic butter liberally on the naan once cooked.
