An introduction to Artisan Cider Making

Spend a relaxed and fun day at Coldsmoking HQ in the company of Nick Gibson from Cider & Smoke. Nick will guide you through the process of making some delicious artisan cider.  

Nick has followed his passion for cider making by establishing his own Kent apple orchard from scratch. He now produces and sells his own brand of garden cider. Nick's relaxed and engaging style coupled with his enthusiasm, will inspire you to produce your own delicious homemade cider.

In this workshop you will learn:-
An introduction to the History, heritage and traditions of cider making
An overview of the varieties of apples used for making cider 
Review of equipment we use and what to look for when buying your own equipment
An introduction to Milling and Pressing of apples. Fermentation and Maturation, Racking and Filtering, Bottling and Storage and the all important Process Control we'll also cover some where to fund useful references and literature.

No prior knowledge of cider making is required. Courses are limited to between 8 to 10 people so as to allow a for more intimate and engaging day.

All equipment required for the day will be provided, although we recommend you wear old clothes and bring an apron or overalls. Full joining instructions will be sent out by email in the week leading up to the course.

This course includes light refreshments and an informal lunch. We can usually accommodate most special dietary requirements.
